1a. Can I use the library across multiple workstations on a SINGLE USER license if I'm the only user?

Yes. You can use the library across multiple workstations so long as these are all owned by you, and used ONLY by you. If anyone else can access the files on any of those workstations, you'll need a license for them too. That person can either buy their own SINGLE USER license, or you can purchase a TEAM MULTI-USER license for 2 or more people.

1b. Can more than 1 person use the library on a SINGLE USER license if the library is only stored locally on 1 workstation?

Yes. So long as the library is not stored on any other device or in any other location aside from that single workstation hard drive, it's not networked with any other workstations anywhere, it's not a central server as well as a workstation, and only one person can physically access the library at any given time, then a SINGLE USER license is ok for this scenario. However it's important to note that even if someone other than the Licensee is using the library in this scenario, the holder of the SINGLE USER license is still legally responsible for ensuring the license terms and conditions are adhered to, and legally liable for any copyright or other type of infringment created by unauthorised sharing or use.

1c. How is a TEAM MULTI USER license different from a SINGLE USER license?

A SINGLE USER license is intended to cover either just one person working at one workstation, or scenarios 1a and 1b above. A TEAM MULTI USER license covers all other use scenarios, comes at a discounted price, and requires a minimum purchase of 2 licenses. Most commonly, creative teams in company or studio environments would purchase TEAM MULTI USER licenses.

1d. For licensing purposes, how do you define a USER?

A USER is anyone who downloads, manipulates, edits, modifies, saves, utilises for creative purposes, or incorporates in any work, the library sound effects.

1e. Can I club together with some friends to buy a TEAM MULTI USER license to get the discount, even if we don't actually work in the same location, and/or we're not part of the same team?

No, a TEAM MULTI USER license does not apply in that scenario. If you are not permanently working at the same location as part of the same team, then you will need a SINGLE USER license each. The TEAM MULTI USER license can only be issued to a leader of a same location team, or company entity, who is then legally responsible and legally liable for complying with the license terms, and ensuring their team does the same. So it's only appropriate to purchase a TEAM license when a person or company has a strong level of control and oversight over what the users are doing with the sound effects, with appropriate anti piracy policies in place. This generally entails TEAM users being physically based at the same location as the holder of the license.

1f. I work in a post production studio/creative team, and we have 3 edit stations where creatives and editors work and have access to our sound libraries, but we have a roster of 7 users, some employed, some freelance, for the sound effects coming into the studio/office and working at different times. How many users do I need to purchase under my TEAM license?

Because under this scenario a maximum of 3 users at one time can access the sound effects, then you only need to purchase 3 licenses.

1g. I work in a creative team, and sometimes we engage freelance remote workers. Can they be covered by our TEAM MULTI USER LICENSE?

No, remote working freelancers would not be covered by a TEAM license. They would need to purchase their own SINGLE USER license.

1h. I work in a creative team, and sometimes we work from home. Do we need extra TEAM MULTI USER licenses for our team to use at home?

If you have enough TEAM licenses for everyone who accesses the library at the office/studio, and one of those same individuals wants to access the library via your central/cloud server from home occasionally, that's fine ONLY so long as the total number of users who can access and use the sound effects at any one time does not increase. So while the person working at home is using the sound effects, their work station in the office is unused for that purpose, and when they are in the office, their workstation at home is unused for that purpose, and nobody else at home uses it. If any of the SFX have been stored on their home workstation, the holder of the TEAM license is responsible for ensuring those are deleted and no unauthorised use occurs should that person depart the team. If you have someone working from home, and an additional person coming to take their seat and use the sound effects in the office, then an extra user must be purchased on your TEAM license for the home use.

1i. I manage a creative team, and I have one or more employees needing to use the sound effects who are permanently based at home. Can they be included on my TEAM license?

If they are permanent payroll employees on PAYE basis working at home full time, then yes, you can pay for them to be extra users on your TEAM license. They don't need to purchase a SINGLE USER license.


2a. Do the files contain metadata?

Yes, all the files contain information about the character of each sound. So you can search for them in Soundminer, Basshead, or any other compatible library management tool. A copy of the metadata sheet is included with your download.

2b. You have a choice of 4 formats: 96kHz wav, / 48kHz wav / 96kHz Aiff / 48kHz Aiff. Which one should I buy?

Most users will be clear up front which of these will best suit their needs. Following are some comments for anyone who may be unsure:

Wavs are compatible with most sound and music librarian tools and DAWs. Some examples being Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, and Reaper. Additionally, Wavs are compatible with key video editing software including Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut Pro X, Vegas Pro, and Media Composer, to name a few examples.

Although the 96kHz format strictly speaking is higher quality, it will also take up double the space on your hard drive that the 48kHz will. Most broadcast and advertising users are perfectly happy with a 48kHz format, and it's the standard for most video editing and production now. However, specialist audio editors and sound designers may prefer to work with the 96kHz option. Aiffs tend to be associated with Mac hardware/apps versus Wavs for Windows, however this isn't hard and fast, both formats will often work on either platform depending on the application in question.

Aiffs come with artwork embedded which isn't possible with Wavs, and some users will prefer that visual cue to help with file organisation.

There's plenty of information about these formats on the internet so if you're unsure, it's easy to research and decide for yourself.

2c. What if I buy the wrong format, and I realise later? Do I have to purchase the library all over again in the format I now want?

Email sfx@radium-audio.com from the original email address you used to purchase the license you already have, quoting us the order confirmation number from your original purchase, and tell us which format you'd like to get hold of. We'll send you a download link free of charge. Note that receiving an additional copy of the library in a different format to what you already have does not come with an additional user license - it's for existing licensed users only.


3a. How quickly will the sounds arrive after I purchase them?

You should receive them straight away. As soon as you have completed your payment, a download page will appear in your web browser. Don’t worry if you accidentally navigate away from the download page before starting the download, there will also be a download link in the order confirmation we send to your email address.

3b. I didn’t get my email confirmation?

  • Check your spam, junk or bin folders. Your email confirmation may have landed there.
  • Try doing a manual send/receive in your email program.
  • If you still haven’t received your email after 30 minutes, email us at sfx@radium-audio.com and we’ll help you resolve this.

3c. My Stripe credit/debit card payment keeps failing?

We find the most usual reasons for declined credit/debit card payments are these:

  • Billing address & contact details don't match the card address & contact details held by the issuing bank
  • Transaction value is much larger than the usual transactions made on the card
  • Lack of cleared funds
  • Transaction has been attempted from an unusual location (eg overseas)

a) If your Stripe Credit/Debit card transaction fails, please clear your cache, refresh your page, double check the billing details match the registered card details and you have sufficient available funds, then try again. If after that the payment is still failing, please contact your bank for more information. The transaction could have been blocked for one of the reasons mentioned above, and your bank may need to speak with or text you to authorize the transaction to go through.

b) If your bank confirms they can’t find any reason for the payment decline or rejection from their end, we do also offer a Paypal payment option as an alternative at checkout. If you’d rather not use Paypal, then email us on sfx@radium-audio.com with with following information:

  • Subject line format “[Your Name]-[Your Contact Number]-Payment Problem”
  • Hardware Device
  • Operating System Name & Version
  • Browser Name & Version
  • Description of what is going wrong
  • Screenshots

We'll do our best to help resolve the problem, and get back to you as quickly as we can.

3d. Can I purchase with my PayPal account?

That’s totally fine! But do be aware that right now in some cases, Paypal are having issues with automatically clearing the shopping cart (basket) after a purchase is paid for. This is an issue on Paypal’s side and unfortunately outside of our control.
Paypal’s dev team are aware of the problem.
However for now, this means that after paying for an item with your Paypal account, that purchased item may still be showing in your basket, when it should have been automatically deleted. This can cause confusion, and possibly lead to accidentally purchasing the same item twice. So if you are using your Paypal account and not debit/credit card to purchase your booking, please be sure to manually check and delete any remaining items from your basket after completing payment. If you do accidentally purchase the same item twice directly as a result of this Paypal bug, email us sfx@radium-audio.com and let us know, so we can ask Paypal to action a refund for you.

3e. Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately digitally downloaded products are non refundable.

3f. Why does the Team License Checkout page ask for separate License Holder and Billing Details?

When buying for a team, sometimes the License Holder and Billing Details might be different. For example, if an individual is using their credit card to buy a team license for a company, and will then claim back the expense later. So in that case, enter the company details under "License Holder" and the credit card holder's details under "Billing". If the License Holder and Billing Details are the same, then simply enter them the same in both sections.


A copy of your usage license is included in your download, and we go into some detail about that here in this FAQ. If after reading both this FAQ and your downloaded license, you still have any questions about permitted usages email sfx@radium-audio.com.
To summarise briefly:

  • Not OK. Please Don’t Do This!
    Resharing, relicensing, reselling, redistributing the sounds in clean or standalone form for any use. Sharing, licensing reselling or sharing the sounds, even if processed/ modified/ combined with other source, as part of an SFX pack, SFX Library, sound design library, sample pack/instrument, or software application, whether paid or unpaid. Selling as ringtones or including in web or app based soundboards. Incorporating the sounds in physical products eg toys, cars, machines.
  • Totally OK. Go Right Ahead!
    Include these sounds in your music tracks, whether freely distributed, or publicly released and commercially sold. Include these sounds in your film/tv/advertising/media soundtracks designed to picture, whether paid or unpaid. Use them in your promo spots, brand content, game soundtracks, radio content, audiovisual productions, audiobooks, podcasts, mobile apps and social media content. Use them in your student projects for assessment.

4a. I'm a composer/sound designer/audio editor/video creator, and my client requires that I deliver my soundtrack in timed relation to picture/audiovisual project as separate audio parts/stems, because they want the option to shift the timing of the edit to picture, or tweak the audiovisual edit a little. Given that your license does not permit re-distribution, can I do this?

Yes you can, so long as ALL of the following apply:

i) Your original audio creative work before submitting to client was designed and edited by you in timed relation to the project's visual material and not independently of it. You yourself created and synced the first version audio track lay to picture, even if your client wants to be able to amend the edit later after you've delivered your whole project to them at the final stage.
ii) Any stem or part with our SFX included is not individually licensed or invoiced to your client as a separate standalone line item. It is part of a collective work covered by a collective work contract, invoice, and invoice value.
iii) You have an agreement in place with your client that your soundtrack is only for the specific visuals & project in question, and they can't re-use all or parts of your soundtrack on other different visuals or for other different purposes which are not part of the current project.
iv) None of our SFX will contribute to an SFX pack, SFX Library, sound design library, sample pack/instrument, or software application.

4b. I'm a composer and I create library production music. I have to supply my music library with stems/parts of my music tracks. Given that your license does not permit re-distribution, can I include your sound effects in my music?

Yes, so long as ALL of the following apply:

i)Your track is clearly a full length (1 minute 30 seconds minimum in duration) composed MUSIC track, and will not form a contribution to any sound design, sound effects, or sound atmospheres library, collection or album.
ii) Any stem or part with our SFX included is not individually licensed or invoiced to any 3rd party by you, your music library, or any sub-assign of your music library as a separate standalone line item. The usage and fee is for a full music track, even if separate stems are supplied for editing purposes.
iii) No stem or part is made up solely of our SFX. These are always mixed with other elements.
iv) None of our SFX will contribute to an SFX pack, SFX Library, sound design library, sound design asset, sample pack/instrument, or software application.

4c. I'm a composer/sound designer and I create, independently of any specific commissioned audiovisual project, stylised, hybrid sound design assets with some musical elements to license directly myself, or to supply to a music or sound design library. Can I use your SFX as source or building blocks in my work?

Unfortunately no, the terms of the license specifically forbid this use.

4d. Do I have to credit you where I use your sounds?

No, you don’t need to credit us. Our sound tools are there to make YOU sound great, so you can take the credit!

4e. Are your sound libraries royalty-free?

Yes. So long as your usage complies with the terms of the license, a one-time fee is payable when the library is initially purchased, and nothing further is payable in respect of usage after that.
